Help Ambitious SMEs Grow with Better Financial Leadership

Are you an experienced Financial Controller who enjoys working closely with business owners, driving commercial performance and making a genuine difference to growing businesses?

At The Part-Time Finance People, we're looking to expand our network of talented, commercially minded Fractional Financial Controllers to support our growing portfolio of ambitious SME clients across Merseyside and the surrounding areas.

This is an opportunity to work with a variety of owner-managed businesses, providing hands-on financial leadership, strategic insight and practical commercial support. You'll become a trusted finance partner to business owners and leadership teams, helping them improve profitability, strengthen cash flow, implement robust financial controls and make better-informed business decisions.

This isn't a traditional back-office finance role. We're looking for professionals who can go beyond the numbers, challenge thinking constructively and translate financial information into meaningful commercial action.

If you enjoy variety, building strong client relationships and helping businesses reach their potential, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Opportunity

As a Fractional Financial Controller, you'll work with clients across our portfolio, providing the financial leadership and expertise they need without the commitment of employing a full-time Financial Controller.

Depending on client requirements and your experience, assignments may include ongoing financial management, commercial business partnering, financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow management and finance function improvement.

You'll work directly with business owners and senior leadership teams, helping them understand their numbers, identify opportunities and navigate the financial challenges of growth.

This is a self-employed, flexible opportunity suited to experienced finance professionals who value variety and autonomy. You'll have the opportunity to build relationships with multiple clients as our portfolio grows.

Client assignments will vary in scope and time commitment. A minimum of two days per week onsite will be required for relevant client engagements, with attendance in Merseyside and the surrounding areas.

Improve finance systems, procedures and management information.
Establish robust controls around purchasing, cash management, stock and operational processes.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and financial visibility.
Promote finance best practice across client businesses.

Finance Team Leadership & Development

Support, develop and mentor existing finance team members where required.

Help develop the capability, confidence and effectiveness of client finance teams.
Provide hands-on leadership and guidance where clients need additional expertise.
